Michelle "Shelly" Kepford

Master of Arts in Counseling, Licensed Social Worker

When people experience traumatic life events, it is quite normal for life to unravel. My greatest calling is using the arts to help others heal. I use the integrative arts as tools in treatment which include art, music/sound, dance, movement, enactment/improvisation, storytelling/narrative, play, and imagination. These art-based interventions act as key strategies when addressing traumatic stress. I assist my clients, who include children, adults, and families, to find healthy self-perceptions and strengthen their relationships so they can appreciate themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe.

I acknowledge that no single approach is the right one for every individual. Through many years of experience and training in a whole host of therapeutic modalities, I strive to meet you where you are at in your journey towards recovery.

My educational background includes an MA in Counseling from Heidelberg University and a BS in Art Therapy from BGSU. I also have an LSW and am currently in the process of adding a specialty certification in Trauma Informed Practices and Expressive Arts. I enjoy balancing my expressive arts private practice along with creating my own art, gardening, yoga and learning from this adventure called life daily!
