What is Expressive Art Therapy?
At Anchored in Hope Counseling, we believe in fostering a variety of paths to mental wellness. That's why we're proud to offer expressive art therapy, with Shelly Kepford, at our office in Maumee, Ohio, alongside traditional talk therapy sessions. Expressive art therapy is a powerful tool for self-expression, emotional exploration, and growth.
Expressive Arts is a strength-based individual and/or group therapy experience that focuses on the convergence of multiple art forms such as writing, music, visual arts, drama, and dance to help people achieve personal growth. Clients do not need to have an art background to engage in the therapeutic creative process. This multi-modal approach provides an emotional release as the arts are used to assist in meeting client needs.
Through the arts, people can safely express feelings, reduce stress, and connect with inner strengths. Creative expression allows the mind and body to release what words alone cannot, opening space for new insights, healing, and hope.
